Rockin' Kindergarten for over 30 years!

Star Spangled Books to Get Your Class in a Presidential Mood

Somehow we’ve blinked again and it’s February!  Between Groundhog Day, Valentine’s and President’s Day, it’s a super busy month.  We hope these books and activities will help you add a little patriotic flavor this month, as we get ready to honor Presidents Washington and Lincoln.

Welcome Books are a great way to add non-fiction to your classroom bookshelves.  Each page features a photograph rather than a traditional illustration – which helps to make distinguishing real from imaginary much easier for kids.  Short, simple text accompanies each photo, making it easy to access for English Language Learners, while still conveying all the most important points.  This publisher has a number of titles that work well at this time of the year.  Here are some favorites:

Looking for some more ideas to celebrate President’s Day?  Check out these other patriotic posts:

Happy 4th of July!

📻 Chicago schools went remote in 1937 due to a polio outbreak since there was no cure for the disease.

While this is not easy, we can do this.

It's been unclear whether the Biden administration would offer testing waivers as many school districts continue to operate with distance learning.
