Choose all or some of the following workshops:
- Early Math: Culturally Relevant and Sustaining Practices to Engage Young Learners PK-3 and their Families (Robyn Stone) – Culturally relevant and sustaining mathematics teaching practices recognize a child’s family’s language and cultural differences as assets for learning that can be leveraged in the classroom. Additionally, these practices support a child’s development of a positive identity and emotional resilience as a “doer” of mathematics. Join a workshop that will reveal five signature teacher moves that will change your math teaching practices yielding higher engagement and deeper learning for your students. (October 23, 2024)
- Beyond Counting Collections (Robyn Stone) – Learn how to increase the complexity of mathematical practices your students engage in during counting collections tasks. Observe how to take an inquiry stance that guides students into deeper modes of thinking and figuring out problems. Also, explore how to ensure your collections are culturally relevant. (November 13, 2024)
- Math Work Stations (Robyn Stone) – Learn how to create modular stations that contain rich invitations for meaningful independent individual and small group math work. Math work stations empower young children to apply their mathematical thinking and make connections to big ideas. Children gain a sense of ownership and responsibility for the stations as they progress through them, gaining familiarity with manipulatives and responsibility for set up and clean up. (December 4, 2024)
- NEW! From TK to Elementary: Planting the Seeds for Mathematical Learning (Albert Vilalta, PhD) – Learn how the math learning foundations in TK connect to the California math content standards up to 3rd grade. This webinar will highlight what developmentally appropriate rich math learning looks like in TK and how it builds the foundations for later years. (December 11, 2024)
