California Kindergarten Association.

Rockin' Kindergarten for over 30 years!

Dear Mr. President

US flagDid you know you can write the president?  Even better – you’ll get a response!  You can choose to send a traditional letter or email the President. This is a great way to add a present day touch to your President’s Day studies and incorporate writing into your social studies lessons.  If you’re looking for a math lesson, these patriotic patterns will add some sparkle.

Looking for some books to support your teaching?  Welcome Books are a great series of non-fiction books with wonderful photographs and simple text that hits just the right note for kindergarten.  They have several books that are perfect for President’s Day, including easy to understand biographies of Abraham Lincoln and George Washington.  Their American Symbols series covers includes some great titles such as The White House, The American Flag and The Bald Eagle.  The Rookie-Read-About books are another non-fiction series which are also filled with photographs and easy to understand text. Presidents’ Day is a great introduction to the holiday.  Happy President’s Day!
