Exhibitors 2011! – The California Kindergarten Association invites you to exhibit your educational materials at the Twenty-ninth Annual California Kindergarten Conference (CKC). We are anticipating 500 participants – Kindergarten teachers, Preschool teachers, Early Primary teachers, administrators, parents, and leaders in the forefront of education today. In an effort to help with the high cost of exhibit expenses, this year the California Kindergarten Conference is once again LOWERING FEES. SB1381 ¨C The Kindergarten Readiness Act |
Aiming to give children a better chance to succeed from their first day in school, the California Legislature has approved Senate Bill 1381, the Kindergarten Readiness Act of 2010 by State Senator Joe Simitian (D-Palo Alto). The measure increases the minimum age for entering kindergarten from 5 years old by December 2 of the school year to 5 years old by September 1 of the school year. For children born between September 2 and December 2, a new Transitional Kindergarten would be established.
Governor Schwarzenegger has until September 30th to sign the bill so please keep your letters and phone calls coming.

Audrey Sanchez Teacher Enhancement Award (ASTEA) – This $500.00 award has been established to honor Audrey Sanchez¡¯s spirit, talent, leadership and dedication to CKA and Kindergarten by recognizing individual educators for achievement and excellence in early childhood education. The nominee must believe in the philosophy of the CKA Mission Statement. Deadline for applications is November 1, 2010. For an application, click here.
Judy Brown Administrator Recognition Award – Recognizes administrators who exemplify outstanding leadership and exemplary support of kindergarten educators. The administrator who is nominated recognizes and encourages professional development of kindergarten teachers and supports the unique needs of the kindergarten classroom. The nominator must be a current member of CKA. Deadline: November 1, 2010. The recipient will be given a Certificate of Recognition during the opening session of the annual California Kindergarten Conference as well as be highlighted by an article in the CKA newsletter, TAKE FIVE.
