CKA Co-President and transitional kindergarten teacher, Debra Weller and CKA Secretary and retired Kindergarten teacher, Judy Crenshaw were recently in Vietnam, providing training for our friends at KinderStar. Today, they share with us one of the lessons they did with the team over there.
We read the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom once and then the second time with choral response. We passed out half sheets of green construction paper and 4″x 5″ colored paper. The students drew the first letter in their name, decorated with markers, and then cut out the letter. Then we showed them how to tear the palm frond. They glued the letter on to the palm frond.
Do you use Chicka Chicka Boom Boom to spark activities in your classroom? Have a tree of your own? We’d love to hear about your ideas!
