Get your fingers limbered up and ready to do some scrolling, because this is going to be a loooong post! :) Are you ready to turn your class into color detectives? We have a rainbow of color clues to get your class thinking and talking about colors. One easy way to use these is to write them out on sentence strips, and then display them in a pocket chart, like so:
To “discover” the color of the day with your students, read the first clue. Then, you can discuss as a class which colors would fit. For each of the clues, the first one could be any of the colors. Then, the second clue will narrow it down to two or three possibilities, and the final clue will reveal the target color. You can use color cards, cute color crayons like in the photo, or just actual crayons to show which colors you’re still considering as you narrow it down.
Ready to turn your class into a group of color detectives? ;) This post got SO huge we decided to split it into two parts. So, here are the first group of clues you’ll need for red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple, along with some images to illustrate them, and some books that work well for each color.
