Rockin' Kindergarten for over 30 years!

Counting Songs Help Keep Kindergarten Math Skills Sharp

Sing your way to numeracy with these fun traditional counting songs!  It’s a great way to practice kindergarten math skills in a developmentally appropriate way.  If you follow the link in the titles, you’ll find an Amazon MP3 you can download right now and you won’t have to wait to get bopping along to these number rhymes.

Looking for a way to tie in literacy skills? Check out these books your students will be able to “read” all by themselves, right away!  Not only do these songs build reading confidence, though, but their rhyming reinforces all important phonemic awareness skills, too.

Five Green and Speckled Frogs

Five green and speckled frogs,
Sat on a speckled log,
Eating some most delicious bugs.
Yum, yum!
One jumped into the pool,
Where it was nice and cool,
Then there were four green speckled frogs.
Glub, glub!

Four green and speckled frogs…

Three green and speckled frogs…

Two green and speckled frogs…

One green and speckled frog,
Sat on a speckled log,
Eating some most delicious bugs,
Yum, yum!
He jumped into the pool,
Where it was nice and cool,
Now there are no green speckled frogs.
Glub, glub!

Five Little Ducks

Five little ducks went out one day,
Over the hills and far away.
Mother Duck said, “Quack, quack, quack, quack!”
But only four little ducks came back.

Four little ducks…

Three little ducks…

Two little ducks…

One little duck went out one day,
Over the hills and far away.
Mother Duck said, “Quack, quack, quack, quack!”
And all of the five little ducks came back.

Five Little Monkeys Swinging in the Tree

Five little monkeys swinging in the tree,
Teasing Mr. Alligator, “Can’t catch me!”
Along comes Mr. Alligator,
Quiet as can be,
And he snapped that monkey right out of the tree!

Four little monkeys…

Three little monkeys…

Two little monkeys…

One little monkey swinging in the tree,
Teasing Mr. Alligator,”Can’t catch me!”
Along comes Mr. Alligator,
Quiet as can be,
And he snapped that monkey right out of the tree!
No more monkeys swinging in the tree!

Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed

Five little monkeys jumping on the bed,
One fell off and bumped his head.
Momma called the doctor and the doctor said,
“No more monkeys jumping on the bed!”

Four little monkeys…

Three little monkeys…

Two little monkeys…

One little monkey jumping on the bed.
He fell off and bumped his head.
Momma called the doctor and the doctor said,
“Put those monkeys straight to bed!”

Ten in the Bed

Ten in the bed and the little one said,
“Roll over!  Roll over!”
They all rolled over and one fell out.

Nine in the bed…

Eight in the bed…

Seven in the bed…

Six in the bed…

Five in the bed…

Four in the bed…

Three in the bed…

Two in the bed…

One in the bed,
And the little one said,
“Good night!”

There are tons of different counting songs.  Have a favorite?  Please share!  We’re always looking for new ideas!  (And love to be reminded of old favorites, too!)
