We hope you all had a safe and happy 4th of July! We’re celebrating the sunshine and the heat with today’s Tuesday Teaching Tip – a summery rhyme about the ocean.
Here is the sea, the wavy sea,
(make small waves with hands)
Here is the boat and here is me.
(lightly clench one fist for the boat and pop one finger through for ‘me’)
All the little fishes down below
(put hands down low)
Wriggle their tails, and away they all go.
(wriggle fingers, then put them behind you)
Poetry is great for developing phonemic awareness and rhymes with motions are fabulous for getting the wiggles out and supporting English language learners. Have a favorite rhyme? Please share!
